“Father, You’ve got to do this, I know You can, I know You want to. There’s no reason for me to have any disease in my body, and furthermore, everywhere You went in the New Testament You healed people – so Jesus, please heal me.”
While traveling to the airport on Sunday, I prayed this while my mom prayed her own prayer of healing aloud over me, with her hand on my side. For a month prior, I’d had a recurring bladder infection, and the pain was particularly excrutiating in my kidneys, along with a few other symptoms. At first it was bearable, easy to ignore (which I was hoping would solve the problem), but by Sunday a few minutes wouldn’t pass that I wasn’t cringing in pain. And so my mom prayed for me.
I continued to pray all day long and by the end of the first day all of my symptoms except for the kidney pain had disappeared. I asked God about this and said, “Jesus, I don’t know exactly what it’s like to be healed, but I don’t think it means half way – so if You’re going to heal me, please would You heal me all the way?” I didn’t want to wait indefinitely to take medicine out of foolishness; likewise, I didn’t want to be guilty of lacking in faith. I found Serena (camp director and someone who’s had a lot of influence in my life personally) and explained my situation. She recommended that I have someone else pray for me as well and we would get medicine the next day. Slightly discouraged, I had Jennifer Smith pray for me and planned on getting the medicine the next morning. However, when I woke up on Tuesday, the pain was completely gone! I felt completely normal!
I’m so excited because I’ve never felt a complete healing like that in my entire life. One where I had an obvious malfunction in my body that could only be fixed through medicinal means, and God did it all for me….Thank You, Jesus! I am very excited about this!
Other than that, our orientation rolls along nicely and tomorrow the gun blows, signaling the start of the race. We think we may have a couple of tricks up our sleeve – here’s how you can pray for us:
1. That the Lord would provide a quick and safe means of travel to Palenque – we have one option that we are really hoping works out. Please that God would provide here (can’t post exactly what it is in case other teams are reading?).
2. The team bonding as we travel – we’ve bonded really well so far and love each other a lot.
3. Team health – emotional, physical and spiritual.
4. Divine ministry appointments in Palenque – will give more details in this regard once we arrive in Palenque.
*We don’t currently have access to the internet and so are unable to post pictures, lo siento! We will, however, post the next time we get a chance. Much love to everyone!
