I have been on an infinite number of mission trips. As a teenager, I spent all of my summers abroad, leading people to the Lord, sharing about Jesus, and falling more in love with the Lord myself. However, I´ve often wondered if that really works. I´ve often wondered if these people who so quickly want Jesus, really want Jesus, or are just saying it to please the Americans.
Five years ago I took a trip with 20 other college students. We went to Lima, Peru to plant ten churches. Since we left I´ve heard varying rumors about what has happened. There was one lady in particular I wondered about – Segundina. She was the first lady we met; she had pancreatic cancer and we prayed for her. Later the church we helped plant met at her house.
So when I found out we were returning to Lima on the World Race, I knew I would return to Segundina´s to check on her and the church. The media team decided to cover our reunion (if she was still alive) as well and last Monday we ventured out in search of Segundina…
great cliff-hanger!
We-l-l-l-l-l-l-l, tell us more!
I can’t wait to hear what happens next! Thanks for praying for me last week. I needed it. I prayed for you just now that the Lord would show you the fruit of your labor. Love you and miss you. -Z
Hey Tal, you’re here with us in spirit this weekend. It’s Abby, Carrie, Zoe, Sarah, and Megan and we MISS YOU desperately. This weekend, we have laughed and enjoyed ourselves, but not nearly as much as if you were here. There’s a Talia-shaped void in each of our souls that only you can fill (okay, it’s midnight and we’re slap-happy). But, we’ve been looking at all your pictures (hmmm…) and have many thoughts and prayers for you. We’ll be praying for you as we sign off. We love you and miss you and eagerly await your return.
P.S. Wallin’s engaged.
