I have written a number of blogs over the past year or so, so while this is not freshly written, my brain meanders down this path quite often…
Let’s face it, life can get pretty discouraging and we need to be reminded that we’re wonderful. The enemy is out there and he wants to steal, kill and destroy. However, the Father wants to bring life!!! (John 10:10). Hallelujah we have life, although we may need help remembering this.
We’re our own best critic, others often have a bit of perspective we may lack. Those are the truths that I remind myself of when I’m feeling down or just want to feel good about myself. Truth can quickly become subjective and hard to recognize, so one thing I like to do is remember the specific compliments I have received throughout life and replay them in my mind.
Once someone told me that they were addicted to me. I haven’t forgotten that one. Another time someone told me that they thought I was the most beautiful girl they’d ever seen. Now naturally both compliments are subjective, however to me at times they are a much needed balm.
Since I started my encouragement collection, I’ve tried to notice unique and special characteristics in others and point them out as well. Hopefully it will incur the same results. What’s in your encouragement bank? We need to work at filling each other’s accounts.
As Christians we are on a team fighting together in a war. Rick Joyner, head of Morningstar ministries, once had a vision and in it numerous Christians were in bondage. But instead of fighting against the bondage, they fought one another. What a travesty when we fight ourselves, and what a help to the enemy, yuck! We aren’t savages unable to be strategic, but rather warriors with the most brilliant of all Generals.
One tactic he has given us is encouragement, so let’s do it! Let’s be breathers of life, Paul did this as a matter of course (
Traveling through the country, passing from one gathering to another, he gave constant encouragement, lifting their spirits and charging them with fresh hope. Acts 2:20, The Message). We’re on a team, let’s fight together!
I’m down with that!
